Just finished school? Ready for something unforgettable? The Isle of Wight placement is made exclusively for Ecuadorian school leavers, so from the moment you arrive, you’ll be surrounded by people your own age, from your own culture, all on the same adventure. No awkward settling in. Just good people, good vibes, and a genuinely life-changing experience.

Based in Ryde, one of the island’s liveliest and most connected towns, you’ll be volunteering across an incredible range of placements, from pre-schools and primary schools to donkey sanctuaries, conservation projects, charity shops, and care homes for older people. And the best part? If you want to try something different, you can switch placements along the way. This is your programme, and we want you to get the most out of it.

Throughout your time here, you’ll be supported every step of the way by James, our director and UK Programme Manager, who brings years of experience in youth development and global volunteering. James will be your guide, your mentor, and your go-to, running your personal development sessions, helping you set goals, and making sure you leave with more confidence, skills, and self-belief than you arrived with.

Requirements

Be at least 17 when applying (you must be 18 by the time your placement starts)

Be Ecuadorian (this programme is exclusively for Ecuadorian school leavers)

Be able to cover the programme fee, visa fee, flights, accommodation, food, and spending money

Have at least a B2 level of English (or equivalent)

Be committed to a minimum of 30 hours of volunteering per week

Work Schedule

Your week will revolve around your placement (minimum 30 hours per week), with regular sessions with James to reflect, set targets, and track your growth. The rest of the time is yours to explore the island, travel to the mainland, or venture further into Europe, cook with your housemates, and make memories that’ll last a lifetime.

Locations

You’ll be living and volunteering in and around Ryde on the Isle of Wight, with easy access to Portsmouth and the mainland. Placements are spread across a brilliant variety of settings including pre-schools, primary schools, charity shops, conservation projects, a donkey sanctuary, and care homes. Want to try a bit of everything? You can. We’ll organise your initial placement and support you if you’d like to switch and experience something new.

Finances

This placement is designed to build real independence. You’ll need to budget for flights, insurance, accommodation, food, and personal spending, but that’s all part of the experience. James and the team will make sure you feel fully prepared before you arrive, so there are no surprises.

Teamwork

Everyone on this programme is Ecuadorian and around 18 years old, so you’ll instantly have that shared connection. You’ve all just finished school, you’re all living away from home for the first time, and you’re all figuring out how to be independent together. The same nerves, the same excitement, the same adventure. You’ll cook together, volunteer in your local community, and grow together, navigating this new chapter side by side. And throughout it all, James, whose passion for youth development and global volunteering is second to none, will be right there to guide and support you every step of the way.

Food & Accommodation

Your home for the placement is a fantastic seven-bedroom shared house right in the heart of Ryde. With three bathrooms, a separate toilet room, a massive kitchen, a courtyard, and housemates who just get it because they’re from Ecuador too, it’s going to feel like home pretty quickly. You’ll shop at local supermarkets and cook for yourself, which is one of the best ways to build independence and have a laugh with your housemates at the same time.
