School Language Volunteer

950 - 1,450 USD (depending on duration)

March or August for 5 or 11 months

As a School Language assistant, your primary focus will be helping students develop essential language skills such as reading and writing. Volunteers will develop student’s oral English skills with classroom activities and informal conversations. But here’s the exciting part – you have the flexibility to bring your unique talents into the classroom. Whether you excel at cricket, singing, or drama, you can lead engaging classes that teach English and share your home country’s culture.

Working with children aged 6 to 11, you’ll become an integral part of their educational journey. You’ll read captivating stories, stage dramatic performances, and even take them for a refreshing swim. During break times, you’ll be responsible for looking after the kids and playing with them, fostering a supportive and enjoyable environment.

But the opportunities continue beyond there. If you’re interested in working with teenagers, you can join a Language Centre, where the atmosphere is more informal and relaxed. Here, you’ll continue to inspire young minds with your enthusiasm for the English language.

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with children, have a keen interest in teaching, and possess a friendly, upbeat, and adaptable personality. Plus, it’s an excellent chance to broaden your horizons by learning Spanish and immersing yourself in the rich culture of Argentina. There is even the opportunity to enrol in Spanish and cultural classes.

Programme Manager

Supporting volunteer journeys

The Argentinia Programme Manager, Mili, prepares volunteers for their placements and provides ongoing support.

Mili studied to become an English Teacher at Saint Catherine’s Teachers` Training College in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After finishing the course, she started teaching English in different private institutions. At the age of 23, she began to work as an English Teacher at Northlands School. Mili was also in charge of the International Department. This last position allowed her to develop her interest in the school’s international community and well-being. In 2015, she coordinated the Exchange Programme in Senior school and has been organising volunteers’ placements in Argentina for five years. Mili’s primary goal is to generate experiences where diversity, cultural understanding and service are present.
